Derek Halvorson, President of Providence Christian College, met with the Mayor of Pasadena, Bill Bogaard, in his office at City Hall. After Providence moved to Pasadena, President Halvorson wrote to the Mayor requesting a meeting and followed up his inquiry with a phone call. In response, he received a letter from the Mayor confirming his request.
President Halvorson commented that the meeting gave him “a chance to introduce Providence to the Mayor and make him aware of who we are and what we do.” According to Halvorson, the Mayor’s response was very positive and he was interested in the history and mission of Providence. Mayor Bogaard was also excited to learn more about the different opportunities Providence offers the students, especially the Avodah program. He informed President Halvorson that he would be happy to help in any way he can and looks forward to seeing Providence grow.
